| Immature
  Stages of Rhipiceridae  Detailed information on immature stages of Rhipiceridae is being
  acquired.  However, Craighead (1921)
  reported on a mature larva of Sandalus
  niger Knoch (Fig. 241) being
  taken from a pupa of Cicada
  that had made its emergence burrow and reached the surface of the soil.  It was thought to have developed as a
  parasitoid, and its body showed modifications, such as a reduction in the
  legs, which is typical for this life style. 
  It was robust in form, and the 9th tergum had a sclerotized tip and
  bore a pair of broadly conical cerci.             Please CLICK on
